PLASTIC SURGERY

POST BARIATRIC SURGERY

WITH POST BARIATRIC SURGERY WE HELP YOU REMOVE ALL EXCESS OF SKIN AND RECOVER A PLEASANT SILHOUETTE.
ALSO CALLED POST CONTOUR SURGERY MASSIVE WEIGHT LOSS

Massive fluctuations in weight often cause the skin to lose its elasticity, so it can no longer return to its original shape once excess weight has been lost. This can leave post-bariatric patients with excess loose skin that hangs from the body in folds.

Also, after substantial weight loss, some people find that they have lost muscle and tissue tone, so they can no longer achieve toning in some areas of their body, no matter how often they exercise.

When these events occur, surgical intervention is necessary to remove excess skin and restore muscle tone to the tissue throughout the treatment area. To help patients achieve a lean and firm upper body profile “Upper body fit”, and help individuals achieve a more toned contour in the lower body “Lower body fit”.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

When should I have the operation?

You should operate when you have lost the weight that was planned and have at least 1 year of bariatric surgery performed and 3 months stable at your new weight. You must be healthy and controlled in your underlying diseases (hypertension, diabetes, etc).

How is the recovery?

The treated area may be swollen, bruised, numb, or painful. Although these symptoms are normal and will improve over time, the residual inflammation resolves completely in about 10 weeks, and the final results will be fully seen.

How long do I have to be at rest?

Normally two weeks after surgery, the patient will be able to return to normal activities, (This will be previously assessed by the doctor)

When can you see the final results?

In general, these types of body contouring procedures require at least three months for the overall cosmetic results to be apparent. Scars typically require 12 months to go through the reshaping process, and because body contouring procedures require significant incisions, they are often evident during this period of time.

How long do body contouring results last?

The main factor affecting longevity of post-bariatric body contouring results is fluctuations in weight. This is the main reason these procedures are delayed until patients have a stable weight for a minimum of 12 months. If patients are able to maintain their weight, long-lasting results can be achieved.
